Negatif Rumi Tile

R 0

The Negatif Rumi Iznik Tile is a richly decorative handmade ceramic tile inspired by the flowing elegance of Ottoman Iznik design. Set against a deep green background, the pattern features soft turquoise rumi motifs, floral forms and curved vine-like lines that repeat beautifully across a wall or decorative panel.

The name Negatif Rumi refers to the negative-space style of the design. Instead of the ornament being painted as a dark motif on a light base, the design is reversed: the pale turquoise rumi forms appear to emerge from the deeper green ground. This gives the pattern a calm but striking presence, almost as though the motifs have been carved out of the surface.

In Ottoman and Islamic art, rumi motifs are known for their graceful split-leaf shapes and flowing movement. Here, they are combined with floral details and a balanced repeating structure, creating a tile that feels both traditional and refined.

When placed together, each tile forms a continuous pattern with a soft architectural rhythm. The deep green and turquoise palette makes it ideal for mosque interiors, feature walls, fountains, niches, kitchen backsplashes, bathrooms or decorative friezes.

Each tile carries the warmth of handcraft, with subtle variations in tone, glaze and surface that give the finished installation depth and character.
